Job Description

You will be tasked with developing and implementing a controlled, standardized practice for managing color from pre-press through print manufacturing. This involves overseeing and refining press profiles, color monitor devices, proofing systems, and other critical equipment and processes. Your role will be central to ensuring that our color management process remains in a state of continual improvement, driving both operational excellence and client satisfaction. Schedule: 8:00am - 4:30PM Summary Responsible for Graphics sales growth, margin, productivity and quality improvements through new process and technology implementation. Responsible to develop a controlled, standardized practice for managing color from pre-press through print manufacturing. This includes but is not limited to managing press profiles, color monitor devices, proofing devices, and other equipment and processes. Responsible to keep the color management process in continual improvement mode. What will I do in this role: • Responsible for research and development of emerging color management technology, including but not limited to: software, proofing and spectral measurement devices, flexographic printing plates, plate screening technology and plating curve development. • Work closely with Sales, Customer Service, Graphics, Quality and Production leadership teams to ensure color management principles are effectively communicated, understood and adhered to by production management. • Develop, maintain and document standardized color management policies across the organization. • Initiate and maintain profile/proofing standards for use internally and with external prepress vendors. • Maintain print quality management certifications such as G7, GMI and any other customer required certifications. • Demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset and collaborate with various department leadership teams to execute organizational and department specific initiatives. • Execute prepress tasks associated with generating profile layouts and create plating files to support all color management initiatives. • Ensure graphics equipment is maintained and calibrated. Responsible for color management hardware and software upgrades on all color management assets. • Negotiate and maintain Software Maintenance Agreements with existing and new vendors to ensure cost savings. • Work directly with Graphics Operations Manager to assist with short-term and long-term strategic planning. • Attend trade shows, product demonstrations, vendor/industry training to stay current with emerging technologies. • Travel with sales representatives to customers' sites for training and gathering data as needed. Any travel to a customer’s facilities is for the purpose of landing new accounts and ensuring the next purchase order is placed with existing accounts. • Provide press approval support as needed. • May be required to perform or assist with customer presentations or internal presentations (Level II Training). • Accountable for performance reviews, attendance records, scheduling vacations, time record accuracy and pay recommendations. • May perform other duties as assigned by the Graphics Operations Manager. • Responsible to follow all safety procedures as required by the role, and to nurture a food safety culture by adhering to all Safe Quality Foods requirements. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required • Knowledge of color and prepress software including, but not limited to: GMG, Esko Color Pilot & Automation Engine, pressSIGN, MeasureColor, ColorLogic. • Knowledge of flexo, offset and digital printing is strongly preferred. • Must demonstrate a firm understanding of expanded gamut printing and separation techniques. • Must understand people and be able to communicate and answer questions in a professional and friendly manner. • Must be able to analyze many variables and choose the most effective course of action for the organization at any given point in time. • Ability to give, receive and analyze information, formulate work plans, prepare written materials and articulate goals and action plans. • Must be able to resolve problems handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure. • Must continually demonstrate all behaviors outlined on Belmark's Leadership Criteria document • Ability to operate a computer. • Ability to meet deadlines. • Knowledge of and ability to speak the English language fluently. • Ability to read, comprehend and follow implicit and explicit written and oral instructions. • Must have excellent interpersonal skills. • Requires education as is generally acquired in four (4) years of college; or 3-5 years of color management experience. • Ability to: stand for 35% of work time; walk and use stairs for 35% of work time; and sit for 30% of work time. • Ability to: see clearly at 20 inches or less, or 20 feet or more: identify and distinguish colors; to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.
