Job Summary

Pre-press Technicians formulates concepts and executes layout designs for artwork and copy to be presented by visual communications media such as magazines, books, newspapers, pamphlets, brochures, television, posters, and packaging. The operator is also involved in making proofs and plates. Operator must have ability and experience working in offset, digital, variable and data/mailing as it pertains to print production. Candidates must have a good knowledge Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Quark Xpress software. Must be quality conscious, detail oriented, self-motivated, reliable and a team player. Must possess excellent organization and communication skills.

Requirements: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Works directly with clients/production through all design phases from concept development through desktop publishing • Lays out and produces all types of printable assignments by desktop publishing with the best creative solution • Keys in hard copy and formats and proofs the copy for publication formatting • Must work with print and data files for producing variable printing, data, and mailing. • 5+ years related experience and/or training, or any equivalent combination of education and experience • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists • Ability to operate MAC & PC with a good understanding of applications and software available Requirements • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and/or previous prepress experience • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations. • Ability to prevent errors and solve problems on digital machine operations.
