Job Summary

As the Prepress/Graphics Technician you will be responsible for assembling graphics and text to create required components for customers’ printed jobs. You will receive and reviews files from customers and confirm the printability of the files, working with customer service on any issues. As the Prepress/Graphics Technician you will create accurate proofs for the customer and ensure that the final content matches the customer supplied file. You will make any required revisions and ensure that the final file meets Fortis requirements for printability. In addition, you may be assigned other duties including color management processes, imposition, flexo plate making, creation of match-prints, and other tasks related to the prepress area.

Job Details Level Experienced Job Location Orem, UT - Orem, UT Position Type Full Time Education Level High School Travel Percentage None Job Shift Office Job Category Prepress-Graphics Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Use design software to assemble or revise required graphics and text components for proofing and plating. Follow customer specifications as communicated by customer service, sales, or customers themselves to produce the work. • Prepare final files for printing following necessary workflow for flexographic or digital printing processes. Assist production team in troubleshooting printability or quality issues. • Proof and review completed work and customer supplied elements for 100% accuracy of color, typesetting, grammar, design, etc. per customer specifications. • Work with customer service or sales as necessary regarding any graphic questions or concerns. • Ensure projects are completed in a timely manner in keeping with Fortis’ cost and quality objectives. • Complete and maintain all paperwork and documentation as required. • Field questions from customer service regarding specific jobs. • Participate in new project meetings or special projects as assigned. Projects may include using design skills to create graphics and text components for customers from scratch. • Will be cross trained in flexographic plate making and plate library management activities. • Additional duties as required. Qualifications Requirements: Education and Experience: • HS (GED) required. Associates degree preferred in graphic design or related field. • At least 2 years of related work experience. • Understanding of flexographic printing requirements such as imposition, distortion, and trapping of files. Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Expert proficiency with Adobe Illustrator. • Experience with/knowledge of Esko Color Preflight. • Proficient with Microsoft Office (including Microsoft Excel and Outlook) • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. • Organized, detail-oriented, with ability to multi-task and prioritize competing requests to ensure deadlines are met. • Strong problem-solving abilities. • Expert level proofreading skills. • Able to manage workload in a fast paced, demanding environment. Supervisory Responsibilities: • None Training Requirements: • Willing to attend required training courses or sessions related to the job as assigned. Physical Demands: • General office related physical requirements: • Type and manipulate a computer mouse / keyboard • Sitting for long periods of time • Occasional walking or light lifting around the office. • Pass a pre-employment drug test and subject to random drug screening. Work Environment: • Regular exposure to dust and noise in the production environment. • Warehouse environment temperatures may be influenced by outside temperatures. Personal Protective Equipment: • Safety shoes and eye protection are highly recommended in the production area. Travel requirements: • None.
