Job Summary

The Production Designer will be responsible for designing and preparing packaging and marketing collateral artwork for print production, ensuring accuracy and consistency across all designs. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, a deep understanding of design principles, and proficiency in prepress and production workflows. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with the creative director, production teams, and print vendors to ensure flawless execution of all printed materials.

Job Description

Essential Functions: • Create or modify artwork for packaging and other marketing collateral, maintaining brand consistency and design standards • Roll out artwork across different dielines and templates while maintaining hierarchy and fundamental layout principles • Prepare packaging and marketing collateral artwork for print production, ensuring all files meet printer specifications • Pre-flight files and export them for production, ensuring compatibility and readiness for print • Review and approve proofs to ensure quality and color accuracy • Support the development and optimization of prepress workflows, systems, and equipment to enhance efficiency and quality • Organize and maintain design and production files, ensuring easy access and retrieval for team members • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product development, and vendors, to ensure seamless project execution • Support Print Shop processes with typesetting, technology support and creating templates • Cross check and approval/proof for labels before new print runs • Manage asset catalogue and organize Brand Folder files • Collaborate across teams to maintain design consistency across various media channels Required Skills and Qualifications: • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in production design, preferably within packaging, consumer goods, or a related industry • Experience with Typesetting and templatizing • Technical Skills: • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and other relevant design and prepress software • Strong understanding of prepress and print production processes, including color management, die cutting, and finishing techniques • Familiarity with different print production methods (offset, digital, flexo, etc.) and materials • Design: • Strong understanding of fundamental design principles such as layout, hierarchy, typography, and color theory • Experience working with dielines and templates, ensuring accurate alignment and scaling of artwork • Detail-Oriented: Exceptional attention to detail, with a keen eye for identifying errors and inconsistencies in design files • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve prepress issues quickly and effectively • Organization: Strong organizational and file management and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and external vendors • Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines • Experience designing as demonstrated by a portfolio that showcases previous related work • Must be able to get and maintain an MED badge Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with packaging design for consumer goods • Experience with digital asset management systems and workflow automation tools • Able to demonstrate a learning mindset by staying up-to-date with the latest design trends and technologies • Proactive attitude in creating creative solutions Work Environment • Standard 40-hour work week with possible over time as needed • Working hours are spent in an office environment • The employee is occasionally required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, including using stairs Green Dot Labs and all its affiliated companies provide equal employment opportunity to all individuals regardless of their race, color, creed, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by state, federal, or local law.
